"I wish I had known this earlier!" is a common statement from Betsy's students and clients. Starting her career at GE in 1994, Betsy learned the leadership models that drive success in the professional world.Through positions ranging from engineer to co-op and internship manager, and Program Manager for Leadership and Development, Betsy takes these ever-evolving models and helps clients use them immediately.
After relocating to Charlotte in 2002, Betsy founded a business coaching firm working with Executive MBA students. She also is an adjunct professor of Business Communication at Queens University and a popular guest speaker. Since 2004, she has conducted seminars for Duke University, University of North Carolina at Charlotte, the McColl business school at Queens University, Vanderbilt University, and her undergraduate alma mater, Georgia Tech.
GE realized early on that "early identification and development" of leadership traits in co-ops and interns was beneficial to both the student and the company. As Regional Chairwoman for the Presidential Scholarship at Georgia Tech in the late 1990's Betsy noticed the similarities between the leadership success factors for professionals and the criteria for acceptance of rising college freshmen.
Betsy is originally from Atlanta, GA. Her undergraduate degree is in Industrial Engineering from Georgia Tech and her Master's work is in Leadership from the University of Louisville. Betsy and her husband, Scott Olinger, live in South Charlotte with their sons, Alex and Sam.
